Build an App with Claude
There are two honest ways to build an app with Claude. Connect Mythex to Claude as a connector, and Claude writes the code inside a Mythex cloud project with a live preview, a database and one-click publish. Or describe the app in Mythex and let its own agent build it, with no Claude setup at all.
Who it's for
People who already plan and write in Claude and want the result to be a running app with a public URL, not a code block to copy somewhere. It also suits Claude users who like vibe coding but don't want to set up a server, a database and a host, and anyone deciding whether to build in Claude or in a dedicated app builder.
What you can build
- A habit tracker Claude creates in a Mythex project, opened from the preview link it sends back
- A Postgres table and an admin page added by Claude to an app you started in Mythex
- A spec you wrote with Claude, turned into a published booking app
- A failing API route Claude fixes after reading the app's logs
- A landing page with a waitlist, built by vibe coding with Claude and published to a public URL
Path 1: use Mythex inside Claude
Mythex runs a remote MCP server that Claude can add as a custom connector. In Claude, open Settings, then Connectors, choose Add custom connector and paste the MCP URL from your Mythex Account settings. Approve access on the Mythex consent page, and Claude can create projects, edit files, run commands, attach a database and storage, start the preview and publish. Every tool result carries a workspace link, so you can watch the app take shape in Mythex while Claude works. Any Mythex plan can connect; the sandbox tools need Pro.
- Copy the MCP URL from Mythex Account settings, under MCP / Claude
- In Claude: Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector, paste the URL, Connect
- Sign in to Mythex if asked and click Allow access
- Ask Claude to build, then open the workspace link to see the live preview
Path 2: describe the app in Mythex
If you don't need Claude in the loop, skip the connector. Open Mythex, describe the app in its chat, and the Mythex agent builds it in a live preview, attaching a database and file storage when the app has data to keep. This path runs on the Free plan with daily credits, and you change the app by asking for changes instead of steering tool calls. Plenty of people mix the two: they think the idea through with Claude, then paste the finished brief into Mythex as the first prompt.
Claude app builder or Claude Code?
Claude is very good at reasoning about code and writing it, and Claude Code is a strong choice if you already have a repository, a machine to run it on and somewhere to deploy. What a full-stack app still needs is a place to live: a running preview, a database, file storage and an address strangers can open. Mythex supplies that part. A developer happy with their own stack may need nothing more than Claude Code; if you want the app live without arranging hosting, adding Mythex closes that gap.
Vibe coding with Claude: requests that work
Vibe coding with Claude goes best when each message names one outcome you can check on screen. Start with the screens and the data, ask Claude to start the preview and share the link, then react to what you see rather than to the code. When something breaks, ask it to read the logs before it guesses at a fix. Before publishing, have it walk through the main flow with the browser tool, which returns screenshots into the conversation.
- "Create a Mythex project called Reading List and build a page to save books"
- "Attach a database and store the books there"
- "Start the preview and give me the link"
- "Check the logs and fix the error on the stats page"
- "Publish it and send me the URL"
A prompt to start from
Build a reading list app where I save books with title, author, status (want to read, reading, finished) and a rating out of five. Add a stats page showing how many books I finished each month this year. Store everything in a database and make it work well on a phone.
Questions
Can Claude build a whole app by itself?
Claude can write the code for an app and explain every part of it. To run that code as a real app with a database and a public URL, it needs somewhere to run, which is what connecting Mythex adds. Without a connector you would copy the code into your own project and host it yourself.
Is the Mythex connector for Claude free?
Any Mythex plan can connect it and approve access. The tools that drive the cloud sandbox need Mythex Pro ($25/month) and credits for sandbox time. Your Claude usage is billed separately by Anthropic under your own Claude plan.
Can I watch the app while Claude builds it?
Yes. Each tool result includes a workspace link that opens the project in Mythex with the live preview. Claude can also start the preview and hand you the preview link directly.
Can I use the same connection from Cursor or Codex?
Yes. It is the same remote MCP server and the same URL, so you can move between Claude, Cursor and Codex and keep working on the same projects.
What happens to the app if I stop using Claude?
The project stays in your Mythex account. You can keep building it in Mythex's own chat, publish it, or reconnect Claude later and carry on from the same files.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. You describe what you want in plain language and Mythex writes the code, shows a live preview, and lets you change things by chatting. The code editor and terminal are there if you ever want them.
Do I have to explain my business every time?
No. Mythex remembers who you are and how you work across every project, and follows the standing notes you set for a project, so you are not re-briefing it in each new chat. You can read, edit or switch all of it off.
How much does it cost?
There is a Free plan with daily credits, enough to build and publish a first version. Pro is $25/month and adds full code editing, GitHub export, custom domains, and credit top-ups.
