Glossary / Full-stack

What is full-stack?

Full-stack means every layer of an application together: the frontend people see and click, the backend that runs the logic, and the database that stores the information.

Think of a restaurant. The dining room is the frontend, the kitchen is the backend, and the pantry is the database. A full-stack app has all three, working together.

A page that only shows information can be frontend alone. As soon as people log in, save things, pay or see their own data, you need a backend and a database too, which makes it full-stack.

A full-stack developer works across all of these layers. A full-stack AI builder sets all of them up for you, so the form on the screen actually saves to a real database.

Examples

  • A booking app: booking page, booking rules, bookings table
  • A CRM: contact screens, search, contacts database

Questions

Does every app need to be full-stack?

No. A brochure website or a calculator can run entirely in the browser. Anything that stores data for many users, or keeps secrets such as payment keys, needs a backend.

What does a full-stack AI app builder do?

It builds the screens, the server logic and the database together from your description, and connects them, so you do not have to wire the layers up yourself.
