What is SaaS?
software as a service
SaaS (software as a service) is software you use through the internet and usually pay for by subscription, instead of buying and installing it on your own computer.
Email services, project trackers and accounting tools you log into through a browser are SaaS. The company runs the software, stores the data, and ships updates to everyone at once.
For customers, SaaS means nothing to install and access from anywhere. For the business, it means recurring revenue and one version to maintain.
Building a SaaS involves more than the main feature: accounts, separating each customer's data, billing, emails, and an admin view to support customers.
Examples
- A scheduling tool for clinics with a monthly plan
- An invoicing app for freelancers
Questions
Can I build a SaaS without coding?
Yes, with an AI app builder you can build the product, database and billing by describing them. You still need to think through pricing, support and keeping each customer's data separate.
What is micro SaaS?
A small SaaS product, often run by one person or a small team, that solves one focused problem for a specific group of customers.
