Lovable vs v0: Which AI Builder Should You Use?

Lovable and v0 compared on backend, hosting, stack, team pricing and code access as of September 2026, with a clear verdict on who each one suits.

Choose Lovable if you want a complete web app — database, login, storage and hosting — from a chat, with the least setup and a flat price for your whole team. Choose v0 if you care most about interface quality, you already use Vercel and Next.js, and you're comfortable connecting your own data sources. As of September 2026 both have free plans; Lovable Pro starts at $25 a month per workspace and v0 Plus at $30 per user per month.

This comparison is based on publicly stated features and pricing on Lovable's and v0's own sites and documentation in September 2026. We did not time builds or grade the output. The criteria:

Lovable

How it feels. You describe the app, Lovable builds it and shows a live preview, and you keep refining in chat or select, edit and annotate elements directly on the preview. Its docs name TanStack Start, a React framework that renders pages on the server, as its latest project template, which helps search visibility. It is built for people who want the whole product, not only the screens.

Backend. Lovable Cloud is the part that makes Lovable approachable. Lovable's docs say it provides a database, storage, authentication, realtime and functions, plus app hosting that scales, built on Supabase's open-source foundation so you don't need a separate Supabase account. Its pricing FAQ says hosting for most smaller or new apps is covered by the included monthly grant, with larger apps drawing on your credit balance.

Code. Lovable's FAQ describes Git sync, a code mode for editing, and export as a ZIP. Custom domains are on paid plans. Lovable builds web apps; its FAQ describes progressive web app and Capacitor routes for mobile rather than a native builder.

Pricing as of September 2026. Free gives 5 build credits a day (up to 30 a month) and 20 Cloud credits a month. Pro is $25/month, or $21/month billed annually, with 100 credits a month plus the daily grant. Business is $50/month, or $42/month billed annually, and adds SSO, restricted projects and a data training opt-out. Enterprise is custom. Credits are shared across the workspace with no per-seat pricing, top-ups on Pro are $15 for 50 credits, and monthly credits expire two months after they're issued. See Lovable pricing.

Watch for. Credit cost varies by how much work a message does, and the same balance pays for building, hosting and AI features in your app.

v0

How it feels. v0 is Vercel's AI builder. It builds interfaces with Next.js, Tailwind and shadcn/ui, and it has a Design Mode for visual edits. v0 describes an agent that can search the web, inspect sites, fix errors and use external tools.

Backend. v0 describes itself as extensible: "use your APIs, databases, and components". That suits developers who already have a data layer. It also mentions Snowflake for data apps. For a non-developer, it means more decisions about where data and logins live than in Lovable.

Hosting. Apps deploy to Vercel in one click, and billing for paid plans is centralized on vercel.com. If you already run on Vercel, that's a natural fit; if not, it's one more account.

Pricing as of September 2026. Free is $0 with $5 of monthly credits, a limit of 7 messages a day, deploy to Vercel, Design Mode and GitHub sync. Plus starts at $30 per user per month, with $30 of monthly credits per user and $2 of free daily credits on login, all models and team collaboration. Business is $100 per user per month and makes training opt-out the default. Enterprise is custom, with SAML SSO and role-based access control. See v0 pricing.

Watch for. Per-user pricing adds up for teams, and your backend is yours to assemble.

Which one for which job

Where each is clearly stronger:

• Lovable wins on a built-in backend and hosting, and on team pricing.
• v0 wins on interface polish in a popular stack, and on fit with Vercel.

Neither is a bad choice. The deciding question is usually: do you want the tool to provide the backend, or do you already have one?

Where Mythex fits

Mythex is another chat-first AI app builder, closer to Lovable than to v0 in that it builds the whole app. You describe it, the agent writes the code (React, TypeScript and Tailwind by default, or Next.js if you ask, plus Python, Node, C# or Java APIs), and you see it in a live preview. Each project can get a dedicated Postgres database and file storage, and you publish to yourname.mythex.ai or, on Pro, your own domain. Login, email and payments use your own providers and keys, which the agent wires in.
