A deposit holds the time and comes off the final price. Write the rules into the booking: how much notice is needed to move a session, how many moves are allowed, and when a deposit is forfeited. Show them before payment and in the confirmation. Payments run through a provider you connect with your own account, and forfeited deposits are recorded separately for the books.

Pieces that take several sessions

A back piece or sleeve is a project. Book it as one piece with several sessions, enforce a minimum gap for healing, and keep a running total of time and price across sessions. Clients see how many sessions remain, and the artist sees the whole project instead of unrelated appointments.

Mistakes to avoid

Do not offer instant booking for custom work; artists need to approve. Do not let one shared calendar hide each artist's own availability and guest spots. And block drawing time in the schedule, or custom designs end up drawn at midnight the night before.
