An Online Store for Your Hostel: Tours, Add-ons, Vouchers and Merch
A hostel store earns from the things guests forget and the trips they want: a padlock, a towel, breakfast before an early flight, a pub crawl on Thursday. Describe what you sell to Mythex and it builds the shop with stock and places per date, and every order saved to a database.
Who it's for
Hostels that sell tours on a clipboard, rent towels for cash at the desk and get asked for gift vouchers, and want to sell all of it online before guests arrive.
What you can build
- Breakfast, towel hire, padlocks and late checkout as add-ons
- Walking tours and pub crawls with places left per date
- Day trips with a pickup time and minimum numbers
- Gift vouchers for any bed or room type
- Hostel T-shirts and tote bags
- An orders list for reception by day
Sell the small things at booking
A guest who pays for a bed is easy to offer a padlock, a towel or a 6am breakfast. These add-ons often bring in more per guest than a rate increase. Offer them on the booking confirmation and the guest page, and give reception a list of what each arriving guest has already paid for.
Tours with a fixed number of places
A pub crawl or a day trip has a guide and a capacity. Each date should show places left and close when full. Add a minimum number for trips that only run with enough people, and a cut-off time so the guide knows numbers the night before.
- Capacity per date
- Minimum numbers and cut-off
- Meeting point and time on the ticket
Vouchers and merchandise
Gift vouchers work for parents paying for a gap-year trip. Give each a unique code and an expiry, and let reception mark it as used. T-shirts and tote bags need stock by size so you do not sell a medium you do not have.
Mistakes to avoid
Do not list tours you only run in summer as available in January. Do not sell vouchers without a clear rule on which dates they cover. And keep the shop light on images; your guests are on roaming data.
A prompt to start from
Build an online store for my hostel. Sell add-ons (breakfast, towel hire, padlock, late checkout), a Thursday pub crawl and a Saturday day trip with places left per date and a minimum of eight people, gift vouchers with unique codes and T-shirts by size. Show reception a daily list of orders by guest.
Questions
Can guests pay for tours online before they arrive?
Yes, if you connect a payment account such as Stripe with your own details. The store takes payment per date and counts down the places left.
Can staff check a voucher code at the desk?
Yes. Each voucher gets a unique code, and staff can look it up and mark it as redeemed from an admin page.
Can the store sit on my hostel website?
Yes. Ask for it as part of the same app, linked from the booking confirmation and the guest page.
Do I need to code?
No. You list what you sell in chat and change products and prices by asking.
How much is it?
Free to build and publish with no card. Pro is $25 a month for a custom domain, code editing, export and more credits.
