Why people look for Cursor alternatives
Cursor is an AI-first editor. As of September 2026 its Individual plan ($20/month) includes extended agent limits, frontier models, cloud agents and MCP support, and Teams is $40 per user per month. The usual reasons to look elsewhere:
- You don't want to switch editors. Cursor is its own app. If your team lives in JetBrains, Visual Studio or Xcode, an extension may fit better.
- Cost. Heavy agent use can push you onto usage-based billing or bigger plans.
- Working style. Some developers prefer to hand off a task and review the result rather than pair with AI inside the editor.
- You're not a developer. Cursor assumes you can read and run code.

We compared publicly stated features, plans and prices on each vendor's own website, pricing page and docs as of September 2026. We did not run benchmarks, measure code quality or do hands-on testing, and we left out anything we couldn't confirm on the vendor's own site. Prices are in US dollars.
GitHub Copilot
GitHub Copilot works inside editors you already use. As of September 2026, GitHub lists VS Code, Visual Studio, JetBrains IDEs, Xcode, Eclipse, Neovim and Zed among supported environments, plus a CLI and GitHub itself.
Pricing as of September 2026:
- Free — $0: 2,000 completions a month, limited chat and agent use.
- Pro — $10/month: unlimited completions, code review, cloud agent.
- Pro+ — $39/month: more AI credits, and you can delegate tasks to third-party coding agents such as Claude.
- Max — $100/month: the largest credit allowance.
Chat, agents and the CLI draw on monthly GitHub AI Credits; completions don't. Business and Enterprise plans are for organizations.

Claude Code
Claude Code is Anthropic's coding agent. As of September 2026 it runs in the terminal, as VS Code and JetBrains extensions (the VS Code extension also works in Cursor and Devin Desktop), as a desktop app for macOS, Windows and Linux, on the web and mobile, and from Slack and GitHub Actions.
Pricing as of September 2026: Claude Code is included with paid Claude plans, not the free one. Pro is $20/month ($17/month billed annually); Max starts at $100/month; Team seats that include Claude Code start at $20 per seat per month billed annually; Enterprise starts at $20 per seat plus usage at API rates.
Choose Claude Code if you like to describe a task, let the agent work through it, and review the diff. It works alongside any editor, including Cursor.
Devin Desktop (formerly Windsurf)
Cognition renamed Windsurf to Devin Desktop in June 2026. It's an AI editor, and it's the most direct like-for-like alternative to Cursor.
Pricing as of September 2026:
- Free — $0: a light agent quota, limited models, unlimited Tab completions and inline edits.
- Pro — $20/month: higher quotas, frontier models from several providers, and access to Devin's cloud agents.
- Max — $200/month: much higher quotas.
- Teams — $80/month for the team plan plus $40/month per full developer seat, up to 200 users.

Zed
Zed is an open-source code editor with AI features built in.
Pricing as of September 2026:
- Personal — $0: 2,000 accepted edit predictions, and unlimited use with your own API keys or external agents such as Claude or Codex CLI.
- Pro — $10/month: unlimited edit predictions and $5 of monthly token credits, then usage at API list price plus 10%.
- Business — $30 per seat per month: org-wide AI policies, data governance and role-based access.
Zed says you can turn off all AI features if you prefer.
Choose Zed if you like open source or already pay for model API keys and don't want another subscription on top.
Gemini Code Assist
Gemini Code Assist is Google's AI coding assistant. As of September 2026 it has a VS Code extension, a JetBrains plugin, the open-source Gemini CLI for the terminal, and a GitHub code review agent.
Pricing as of September 2026: free for individual developers with no credit card required (Google lists 6,000 code-related requests and 240 chat requests a day). For businesses, Standard is $19 per user per month and Enterprise $45, both with an annual commitment ($22.80 and $54 without one).
Choose Gemini Code Assist if you want a capable free assistant in VS Code or JetBrains, or your team builds on Google Cloud.
Replit
Replit is different from the tools above: a browser-based workspace where an agent builds, runs and hosts apps. It's the alternative for people who want the app, not just help writing code.
Pricing as of September 2026: Core is $20/month ($18 billed annually), with $20 of usage toward the most powerful models; Pro is $100/month ($90 billed annually), with 10 parallel agents and up to 15 collaborators; Enterprise is custom.

Where Mythex fits
