Furniture Inventory Management App: Floor, Warehouse and On Order

Furniture inventory is not just a count of items. It is a showroom floor, a warehouse, and a list of pieces still at the factory that are already sold. Describe how your store works to Mythex and it builds an inventory app that tracks all three, with each incoming piece linked to the customer waiting for it.

Who it's for

Furniture stores where the warehouse team learns which pieces are spoken for by asking the office, and where ex-display items sit unsold because nobody marked them. It suits stores with a showroom, a warehouse or back room, and several suppliers with long lead times.

What you can build

  • Stock by location: showroom, warehouse, on order
  • Supplier orders with expected arrival dates
  • Each on-order piece linked to the customer order it fulfils
  • Ex-display and damaged items sent to a clearance list
  • Stock in and out with who moved it and when
  • A stocktake screen staff use on a phone

What furniture inventory must track

A sofa on the showroom floor, the same sofa boxed in the warehouse and one in a container from the factory are three different situations. Track location and status for each piece, not just a quantity per product. Made-to-order items should be created when the factory confirms them, with the supplier, expected date and customer attached. When they arrive, the warehouse sees at once which are reserved and which are free stock.

  • Location and status per piece
  • Supplier, expected date and customer on every order
  • Reserved versus free stock
  • Condition notes for ex-display items

Clearance without guesswork

When a range is retired or a floor model gets a mark, change its status to ex-display or damaged with a note and a photo. Those items move to a clearance list, which can feed an online clearance page if you have a shop. Floor space is expensive, and pieces that are clearly listed sell.

Mistakes to avoid

Do not count made-to-order fabrics as stock: they are options, not items. Do not let reserved pieces show as available on the floor or online. Do not skip recording who moved an item; when a sofa goes missing between the warehouse and a delivery, the movement log is the only record.

Getting started

Do one stocktake with the phone screen: walk the showroom, then the warehouse, entering each piece with its location. Then add open supplier orders from your purchase records and link them to customer orders. From then on, record movements as they happen.

A prompt to start from

Build an inventory app for my furniture store. Track each piece with product, fabric or finish, location (showroom, warehouse, on order) and status. Supplier orders have an expected arrival date and each piece can be linked to a customer order. Log every movement with who and when, add a clearance list for ex-display or damaged items, and a phone-friendly stocktake screen.

Questions

Can I track items that are ordered but not yet in the warehouse?

Yes. Record them with an on-order status and expected date, linked to the customer order they fulfil. When they arrive, change the status and they show as reserved.

Can the online shop use the same stock?

Yes. If the shop is in the same project, it can read the inventory and hide or mark items sold out at zero.

Can staff count stock on a phone?

Yes. Ask for a stocktake screen that works in a phone browser. On Pro the app can also become Android and iPhone apps that open your published app.

Can it warn me when a supplier is late?

Yes. Any order past its expected date without an arrival can show on a late list or a dashboard.

Is it free to build?

You can build and publish it on the Free plan with no card. At $25/month, Pro adds export, code editing and a custom domain.
