Inventory App for Plumbing Companies: Van Stock, Parts and Reorders
A plumbing inventory app tracks parts where they actually are: in each van, not just on a warehouse shelf. Describe your vans, standard kit and suppliers, and Mythex builds stock counts, parts used per job and restock lists on a real database.
Who it's for
Plumbing firms whose plumbers drive to the merchant twice a day for a 15mm elbow, and whose office has no idea what is sitting in the back of each van.
What you can build
- Stock per van and in the yard or warehouse
- A standard van kit with minimum quantities
- Parts used recorded on each job
- A weekly restock list per van
- Reorder points and supplier codes for common parts
- Big items like boilers and cylinders reserved for a job
Every van is a small warehouse
Most parts a plumber uses come out of the van, not the stores. Give each van its own stock location, set a standard kit of fittings, valves, washers, PTFE and flux with minimum quantities, and let parts used on each job come off that van's count. At the weekly check the app lists exactly what each van needs to get back to kit.
- One stock location per van
- Standard kit with minimums
- Weekly restock list generated automatically
Parts on the job, parts on the invoice
When parts are recorded against the job, they can flow straight onto the invoice and nothing is forgotten. It also shows which jobs use more parts than expected, and which plumbers are quietly stocking up from the stores without recording it.
Big-ticket items
Boilers, cylinders and bathroom suites are ordered per job, not stocked by the dozen. Reserve them against the job when they arrive, record the serial number, and you will not find a boiler in the yard that two installs both thought was theirs.
What to set up first
Do not count every washer in the building on day one. Start with the standard van kit and the twenty parts that cause most supplier runs. Count those in each van once, then let usage do the rest. Add the warehouse and big items once the van counts are trusted.
A prompt to start from
Build an inventory app for my plumbing company with 4 vans and a warehouse. Each van has a standard kit with minimum quantities for fittings, valves and consumables. Plumbers record parts used on each job, which deducts from their van and adds to the invoice. Generate a weekly restock list per van, flag warehouse parts below reorder level with supplier code, and reserve boilers and cylinders against a job with serial numbers.
Questions
Can plumbers record parts from their phone?
Yes. The app works in a phone browser on site. On Pro it can also become Android and iPhone apps.
Can parts go straight onto the invoice?
Yes, if you build invoicing in the same app. Parts recorded on the job appear as invoice lines.
Can it place orders with my merchant?
It produces reorder lists with supplier codes. Sending orders to a merchant's system automatically depends on what that merchant offers.
Do I need to code?
No. Describe your vans and parts and adjust by chatting.
Is it free?
Free has daily credits and no card. Pro is $25/month.
