Inventory App for Motorcycle Shops: Bikes, Parts and Gear in One Stock System
A motorcycle shop carries three kinds of stock that behave nothing alike: bikes with frame numbers, parts that belong to a workshop job, and gear in sizes. Tell Mythex what you stock and it builds an inventory app that tracks each the right way, records every movement and stops the counter selling parts the workshop is waiting for.
Who it's for
Motorcycle dealers and independent shops counting parts by hand or in a shared spreadsheet, with used bikes tracked on a whiteboard and no way to see which parts on the shelf are already spoken for.
What you can build
- Bikes by frame number with status: in prep, for sale, reserved, sold
- Parts with part number, location, cost and reorder level
- Parts reserved against a booked workshop job
- Gear by brand, model, size and colour
- Stock in and out with who, when and why
- A phone stocktake screen for the back room
Reserve the part when it arrives
The classic workshop failure: shims ordered for Thursday's valve service arrive Monday, sit on the shelf unlabelled and get sold on Wednesday. Ask for parts to be received against a job, so they show as reserved, do not count as available, and appear on that job's card. When the job is invoiced, the part moves out of stock automatically.
- Receive parts against a workshop job
- Reserved stock excluded from what can be sold
- Stock moves out when the job is invoiced
Bikes are not parts
A bike is one item with a frame number, year, mileage, purchase price, prep costs and a status. Track prep work against it, like new tyres or a service, so you know what each used bike really cost you before you price it. Part exchanges come in as new bike records. A list of bikes by days in stock tells you which to reprice before the season ends.
Reorder levels for the fast movers
Oil, filters, pads, plugs and chain lube sell every day in spring. Set a reorder level on each, and ask for a reorder list grouped by supplier, ready to send before the distributor's cut-off. In winter, drop the levels so cash is not tied up in stock that sits until March.
- Reorder list grouped by supplier
- Seasonal reorder levels
- Slow-moving stock report
What to set up first
Begin with your consumables and the bikes on the floor. Import the parts you sell most from a CSV, add locations by shelf, and do one full count on your phone. Gear and the long tail of parts can come later, once the counts match the shelf.
A prompt to start from
Build an inventory app for my motorcycle shop. Track bikes by frame number with year, mileage, cost, prep costs and status; parts with part number, location, cost and reorder level; and gear by brand, size and colour. Parts can be reserved against a workshop job so they are not sold. Log every movement, show a reorder list by supplier, and add a phone stocktake screen.
Questions
Does it keep a history of every stock movement?
Yes. Each movement is saved with what changed, how much, when, who did it and why, so a wrong count can be traced.
Can I scan barcodes with my phone?
Yes. Ask for barcode scanning through the phone camera on the stocktake and receiving screens.
Can it connect to my workshop bookings?
Yes, if both are in the same Mythex app. Ask for workshop jobs that parts can be reserved against, and the stock and the diary share one database.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. You describe what you track and change it by chatting, with a live preview as you go.
How much does it cost?
You can build and publish on the Free plan with no card. Pro is $25 a month and adds a custom domain, code editing, export and credit top-ups.
