Cosmetics Inventory App with Batch and Expiry Tracking, Built with AI
Mythex builds an inventory app for a cosmetics brand from a description: stock by product, shade and batch, manufacture and expiry dates, stock movements with who and when, and low-stock alerts. Each order can be traced to the batch it shipped from, which a shared spreadsheet cannot do reliably.
Who it's for
Beauty brands holding their own stock, whether finished goods from a contract manufacturer or products filled in-house from raw materials and packaging components. It suits teams where two or three people edit the stock sheet and the counts stopped matching the shelf some time ago.
What you can build
- Lipstick stock split by shade and batch, each with an expiry date
- A packing screen that picks the earliest-expiring batch first
- Jars, pumps and labels tracked as components with reorder levels
- A recall list: every order that shipped from batch 2406-B
- A monthly stocktake counted on a phone in the storeroom
What a cosmetics inventory app must handle
A beauty product has a shelf life, so a single quantity per item is not enough. Each delivery from the manufacturer is a batch with its own number, quantity and dates. Shades multiply the item count quickly. If you fill products yourself, you also need raw materials and packaging components, and finished stock should draw them down. Stock moves between your storeroom, a fulfilment partner and retail stockists, and every move should be a row in a history.
- Item, shade and batch as separate levels
- Manufacture date, expiry date and period after opening
- Stock movements with reason, quantity, person and time
- Locations: storeroom, fulfilment partner, consignment
Mistakes to avoid
Do not track stock only at product level and hope batch numbers are written on the box; when a customer reports a reaction, you will need to know which batch they received. Do not let packers choose whichever box is closest, since older batches then expire on the shelf. And do not ignore packaging: a launch can be held up by a shortage of pumps just as easily as by a shortage of product.
What to put in first
Import your product and shade list, then enter the batches you currently hold with their dates and counts. Ask for a stock-in screen for new deliveries and a stock-out that records the order number and batch. Add low-stock levels per shade and a report of anything expiring in the next 90 days. Components and multiple locations can follow.
- Products and shades from CSV
- Current batches with quantities and dates
- Reorder levels for best-selling shades
Connecting it to your shop
If your online store is also built with Mythex, the shop and the inventory app can share the same product records, so a sale reduces stock without anyone re-typing it. If you sell elsewhere, a CSV import of orders works as a starting point.
A prompt to start from
Build an inventory app for a cosmetics brand. Track stock by product, shade and batch number, with manufacture and expiry dates and location. Record every stock in and out with quantity, reason, order number and who did it. When packing an order, suggest the earliest-expiring batch and save which batch was used. Show low-stock shades, stock expiring within 90 days, and a phone-friendly stocktake screen.
Questions
Does it keep a history?
Yes. Every movement is a row: what changed, by how much, when, by whom and from which batch. That history is what a shared spreadsheet loses.
Can I trace which customers got a particular batch?
Yes, if stock-out records the batch. Ask for it in the prompt and you can list every order that shipped from a given batch number.
Can I use it on a phone in the storeroom?
Yes. Ask for a phone-friendly counting screen. Barcode scanning through the phone camera can be added by asking too.
Do I need to know how to code?
No. You describe what you track and Mythex builds the app with a live preview. You change it by chatting.
How much does it cost?
The Free plan needs no credit card and includes daily credits, enough to build and publish a first version. Pro is $25/month and adds code editing, export, GitHub, custom domains and credit top-ups.
